Events

How to RSVP:
To RSVP for events, go to our Calendar page. Each community service event has a google form that you must fill out. For select events, participants will be added to a whatsapp group chat. Events may have limited spots, if there are no spots left members will be notfied through their FIU email.
*If a member fails to show up to an event, they will lose priority to RSVP for the next one.*

CURE is proud to partner up with various organizations on campus and around South Florida to give our members opportunities for community service, clinical exposure, mission trips, fundraising, test prep and more!

Community Service Events:


​-Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) events: ​Our members have access to events hosted by FIU's HWCOM. Examples include health fairs, physician lectures, research seminars, to name a few. 

-HWCOM STEM Saturdays: CURE members travel to South Florida communities on the first Saturday of every month to perform science experiments with children and lead by example. Collab with HWCOM Medical Students to give out lesson plans and teach Elementary/Middle school level children.

-Radio Lollipop at Nicklaus Children's Hospital: A non-profit program in Nicklaus Children's Hospital where our members help provide play, entertainment, comfort and care for hospitalized children.

-Lotus House Women's Shelter: A non-profit program inside Lotus House Women's Shelter where our members engage in arts and crafts with the children at this shelter.

-Child Life at Holtz Children's Hospital: A non-profit program inside Holtz Children's Hospital where our members engage in arts and crafts with hospitalized children. 

 -Camillus House and Chapman Partnership:  Our volunteers frequently spend their Sundays serving food to homeless individuals in Miami-Dade County. 

-Zoo Miami:  Our volunteers frequently spend their Saturdays working with Zoo Miami's Horticultural Department. Activites include tending to the plant nursery and mulching.

-Beach Clean-ups:  Our volunteers frequently spend their Saturdays picking up waste and plastic from South Florida beaches. Lets keep our oceans clean and our sea-creatures safe!

Fundraising Events:

-Relay for Life:  Our biggest fundraiser of the year, it is an FIU event dedicated to honoring cancer victims, survivors and their caregivers. CURE helps raise money throughout the school year in the hopes of one day finding a cure for cancer. 

-Chipotle/Pieology/Lime etc. :  We partner up with these fast-food chains to raise money for Relay for Life. 

-CURE Socials:  CURE frequently hosts social events to help raise money for Relay for Life. Activites include Movie Night, Game Night, our End of Semster Dinner, CURE Banquet and more. We hope to see you there!

Mission Trips & Clinical Exposure Events:

-Mission Trips: We coordinate mission trips to several countries in South America, with companies such as MedX, Jose's Hands, and Blue Missions.
 
-Shadowing: We offer shadowing every semester to provide pre-health experiences for our members.

-Workshops: We provide hands-on activities for our members during our meetings. Activites include CPR training, Suturing, Phlebotomy and more!

Sports:

-Intramural Sports: CURE members are athletic too! In fact, we are 3x defending intramural soccer champions. Go CURE! 

Test Prep:

-Test Prep: We partner up with Kaplan Test Prep, The Princeton Review, and CLUTCH to offer our members free mock exams and discounted study materials.
